The Houston Texans are advancing to the divisional round of the AFC playoffs and are looking like the team nobody wants to face after a blowout victory against the Cleveland Browns in the wild card round.

The Texans will be facing off against either the Baltimore Ravens or the Kansas City Chiefs in the next round of the playoffs. Each are daunting opponents with the Chiefs being the reigning Super Bowl Champs and the Ravens boasting the league's top scoring defense.

The Texans however, aren’t listening to any of the noise surrounding the team, which makes them one of the deadliest teams to face going forward, and it's all due to their first year head coach DeMeco Ryans.

The culture Ryans has put into place since arriving in Houston is the main reason why this team is getting set to play in their second postseason game this season. Prior to Ryans' arrival in Houston, it's been four years since the last time the Texans even appeared in the playoffs.

The phenomenal play of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has of course had some effect on the team's success as well, but the entire team is bought in because of their head coach and the culture he is creating.

"It doesn’t matter who makes the play, it doesn’t matter when they make the play, but it's everybody just being bought in," Ryans said on Monday. "Everybody is playing for each other and that's the biggest thing that garners success is that nobody is worried about who gets the honors or who gets the accolades. Truly everybody cares about just winning and that's what matters most."

That kind of mindset is one you find on any championship team at any level and in any profession. Ryans is sure to be proud that his team shows those characteristics but those qualities have been brought out of the players because of his coaching.

Whether it's this year or not, this Texans team will be competing for a championship sooner than later because of their head coach. The Texans have proven to be a dominant team and one who has genuinely become easy to root for. Ryans also understands that this type of organizational change didn’t just happen over night.

"It takes growth throughout the year, it takes ups and downs, it takes failure, it takes a lot of learning lessons, truly to grow and make you tighter," he explained. "You learn best in those tough moments. You see who guys are when things get tough and when everything isn't going well, like how do guys respond. You see how those guys responded through those tough times we had and some tough losses."

"Everybody continued to stick together. Everybody continued to work. That's the reason we are in the position we're in now."

No matter what happens throughout the rest of this season in the playoffs, the Texans have proven to the league that they are now a team worthy of competing for a title each and every year going forward in this new era. It's a great thing to see for the city who has been through so much over the last few years.
