The Houston Texans know they're starting anew in 2023. There's a new head coach in town with DeMeco Ryans taking over the franchise and a revamped roster on both sides of the football.

At the very least, the Texans expect to raise the floor significantly even if it remains to be seen just how far they can make it once the season starts.

This leads us to the question that lives in the mind of every single fan. You know the one.

Even if you try to act as if that thought didn't even cross your mind because it's too early in the team's rebuild efforts, the question will come up from time to time: Will the Texans make the playoffs?

According to BetOnline.ag, no. In fact, their implied odds suggest the Texans have a 90.9% chance of missing the cut.

Although an uninspiring number, there likely won't be a sense of surprise from the fanbase. After all, we know what the state of the roster is right now.

Keep in mind, these odds and probabilities are already taking into account the Texans are about to draft a quarterback second overall. Chances are the odds are assuming Bryce Young is the quarterback since he's favored to be the pick for Houston.

If for any given reason, Texans GM Nick Caserio shocks us by passing on a quarterback or perhaps trading for one like Lamar Jackson or Mac Jones, the odds would likely change.

As of right now though, I'd bet the betting markets are assuming a rookie quarterback leads the way for the team.

Here's the silver lining though: That rookie quarterback, be it Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud, will be playing behind an offensive line featuring Laremy Tunsil and Shaq Mason. He'll be throwing to Dalton Schultz, Nico Collins, and maybe even John Metchie III.

And that defense that Ryans will lead? It's got several new starters. The Texans might be better than we think they will be when actual football is being played.
