The Houston Texans are still without running back Joe Mixon who suffered a high ankle sprain in week two agaisnt the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. He missed the following three games and the Texans averaged a paltry 77.6 yards per game on the ground.
In week one, the Texans ran for 213 yards against the Indianapolis Colts and the Texans offense was operating on a different level. They have done a good job mitigating the loss of Mixon but they could certainly use him back.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans updated the status of Mixon and he's still week-to-week.
Mixon still being week-to-week now that we are three weeks past the injury is disappointing for many reasons, but it especially hurts with wide receiver Nico Collins also week-to-week with a hamstring injury.
The running game could use a serious boost over the next few weeks and the return of Mixon would do just that. If he doesn't practice by Thursday, returning on Sunday against the New England Patriots will be extremely unlikely.
