The Houston Texans recently made a tough decision that could come back to haunt them. They have been very busy this offseason, especially during the free agency period, as they have made moves that obviously made the roster better.

One of those moves was trading for Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon, a position they desperately needed after missing out on Saquon Barkley, Deandre Swift, Derrick Henry, and Austin Ekeler. Trading for him was a great idea, especially when you consider the Bengals were going to release him, but instead, the Texans just gave up a seventh-rounder.

The real questionable move was what came on Thursday when the Texans decided to do something that could haunt them, just like it has for several other teams. The Texans signed Mixon to a three-year, $27 million contract extension that includes $13 million guaranteed from Houston.

The potential issue here is that the Texans haven't even seen Mixon play in their system with their guys yet. This happens all the time, and while it's a very different situation, the Denver Broncos just did it with Russell Wilson, and it's coming back to bite them badly.

Now, I will say the positive to this is that Mixon is only 27 years old, so it's not like he's super old, and he should still have some juice left, at least for this next season.
