If there were an offseason award given to the smartest general managers based on their free agency moves, this year's should go to the Houston Texans general manager, Nick Caserio. He has undeniably made some of the best moves.
Of course, there is the splashy move that every team needs once in a while, and in this case, it was the Texans signing Danielle Hunter. The teams always make sneaky moves, and the Texans did that with Denico Autry and Azeez Al-Shaair.
Then, there are the depth pieces that teams make to help fill out their rosters. The Texans have made some of the more perfect signings in that areas as well, including their most recent one on Tuesday.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Houston Texans are signing former Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Mario Edwards to a one-year deal. The veteran defensive tackle will be a great depth piece with size and physicality, as he also finished with two sacks and five tackles for loss with Seattle last year.
While Edwards is more of a pass rusher than run stopper, he has the size to fit that role as well, if needed there. The Texans are making some of the best moves this offseason.
