The Houston Texans started Week 2 of OTAs this week, and we have seen plenty of clips and videos of everything we have been waiting for—new wide receiver Stefon Diggs in Texans threads. And, of course, there have been other highly anticipated things as well, like Tank Dell being back from injury, Nico Collins after his extension, and how C.J. Stroud looks going into year two.
As we delve into the wealth of clips now available, it's important to remember the unique context in which this football is being played-it's the only football action we have right now. This is a special time for fans, and the Texans have even tantalized us with glimpses of the chemistry between C.J. Stroud and Stefon Diggs.
Now that they have three elite wide receivers—three guys who could all be WR1 in almost any offense in the league—we should see a lot of celebration in 2024. This offense can be unstoppable in both the air and on the ground, as they added running back Joe Mixon as well. It's pretty safe to see we will see guys in the end zone celebrating a score quite often, and maybe far more often than we did last season.
If that does happen, we are sure to see this new handshake or celebration Diggs and Dell have been doing during OTAs. When in seven-on-seven drills, and one of those two makes a play, they have a pretty cool handshake or celebration that is hard to explain, but it looks cool.
Suppose these two guys, who will likely be fighting for the second-most targets behind Collins, are already bonding and have that good of chemistry. In that case, it kind of tells me that maybe the narratives about Diggs being easily disgruntled because of targets just aren't the case.
Either way, it's one cool handshake.
