The 2025 NFL Draft Combine is right around the corner, literally a few days away, and that means the Houston Texans are getting even closer to having an idea of what they want and who they want to target in the draft. Let's be clear, they already somewhat have an idea, but talking and interviewing these players is beyond crucial for the entire draft process.

And, it's even more important for the Texans this time around because they will be relying so heavily on the draft this offseason. Coming into the 2025 offseason, the Texans are projected to have around $7 million in available cap space. Now, they can restructure contracts and make roster cuts to change that number, but either way, they have a lot to do with little free agency money.

So the draft is going to be where the bulk of the action comes from for the Texans this offseason. Last year, it was free agency and trades, with Danielle Hunter, Stefon Diggs, and Joe Mixon all making their way to Houston. This year, it will be in the draft.

And while the draft is still a pretty long way away, the NFL Combine is right around the corner. The Texans and all of their scouting staff will be in attendance at Lucas Oil Stadium where the Indianapolis Colts play, or the second home of the Texans, as seeing they have won their last three games there. While there, there will be three specific positions the Texans are going to be watching.

Three position groups Texans will be watching at the Combine

Offensive line

C.J. Stroud regressed in 2024 compared to how he played in 2023. But, that was largely because of his offensive line play, play calling, and scheme. He was sacked 56 times last year, the second most in the NFL, and hurried 72 times, the most in the NFL according to FantasyPros. Stroud averages 2.98 seconds on time to throw in 2024.

The offensive line group this year is somewhat deep, it just depends on what positions you are looking for. The Texans pretty much need one of everything, whether it be a starter-level talent or a depth guy. The Combine will begin coverage of all offensive linemen participating on Sunday, March 2, at 1 PM ET.

Wide Receiver

With the questions surrounding Tank Dell on when he will be ready, or if he will even be the same player after a terrible, awful injury, and the questions surrounding Stefon Diggs, regarding if he will return to Houston in 2025 or not, the Texans will certainly be watching the receivers.

You could argue that in this upcoming draft, the Texans may take more than one wide receiver. The Combine will begin coverage of all wide receivers on Saturday, March 1st, at 1 PM ET.

Interior Defensive Line

This is one of the more deep draft classes in recent memory when it comes to the defensive tackle position. There are dudes at the top of the class who are great, and there are guys at the bottom of the class who could really help your team in year one. The Texans, who have the best edge rusher duo in the league, need a defensive presence in the interior.

As far as that's concerned for Houston, they could grab one at pick No. 25, with a guy like Kenneth Grant being available, or they could wait till the back end. Either way, they will be busy on Thursday, February 27, at 1 PM ET when the defensive lineman starts.
