The Indianapolis Colts defense is on pace to make franchise history with their performances in weeks 1 and 2 of the 2023 season.

Their eight sacks through the first two weeks of the season have them on pace to finish with 68 sacks.

That would be a single-season franchise record for the Colts.

In 1975, the Baltimore Colts set the Colts franchise record for sacks in a season with 58. The closest the team has come to that record during their Indianapolis tenure came in 2005, when the team recorded 46 sacks.

The Colts defensive line, entering this season, seemed to be the best-built group of Chris Ballard's tenure as the team's GM. This led me to make a bold prediction. A prediction that the group is already on pace to surpass. Of course, the record isn't broken yet, as the team has to show they can keep this pace up for an entire season. But their strong start is great to see.
