The Indianapolis Colts added UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu with the 15th pick in the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

While Latu will clearly have an important role on the team this upcoming season, edge rusher wasn't an obvious position of need, which leaves a few positions as options when day 2 of the NFL Draft begins Friday night.

Below are the top players that I believe make sense for the Colts at the two positions people view as their biggest needs: WR and CB. Along with a third section labeled other with players at positions outside of those two that I believe fit the Colts' roster well.

Best players available for the Colts on Day 2:

WR:

The Colts locked up star WR Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason. So, he will continue to man the team's starting X WR spot on the outside, with second-year WR Josh Downs set to start in the slot. The last staring role currently belongs to Alec Pierce in the team's starting Z role on the outside. Pierce had a rough go of it last season after Anthony Richardson' injury because he lost a quarterback willing to take shots down the field, which significantly limited his potential production. But if the Colts elect to add to the room, I think a player to split time with Pierce in the Z role makes the most sense.

1. Troy Franklin, Oregon

2. Adonai Mitchell, Texas

3. Ladd McConkey, Georgia

4. Roman Wilson, Michgian

5. Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington

CB:

The Colts started two rookie CBs for the majority of last season, which had many expecting the team would target CB in the first round. Instead, we enter day two with the same projected starters in the Colts' secondary from when the offseason began. They need to add speed to their CB room and preferably a player who fits their typical size and athleticism metrics at the position.

1.. Cooper DeJean, Iowa

2.. Kool-Aid MKinstry, Alabama

3. Mike Sainristil, Michigan

4. Max Melton, Rutgers

5. T.J. Tampa, Iowas State

Other:

After WR and CB the Colts have a few other smaller needs that I also think are important to watch for on day two of the draft. Some of the spots that come to mind here are linebacker, interior offensive line and safety.

1. Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon

2. Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M

3. Payton Wilson, LB, North Carolina State

4. Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia

5. Jaden Hicks, S, Washington State
