DeForest Buckner has been one of the best DTs in the NFL for some time now. But for some reason, he continues to be overlooked by many who cover the NFL.

Including my colleagues here at A to Z Sports, with Buckner's placement in our recent top 105 NFL players ranking already being revealed in the 85-66 range

Colts DT DeForest Buckner

Rank: 78

"DeForest Buckner is a true force on the interior for the Indianapolis Colts. He's been one of the most under appreciated players in the NFL for quite some time and him coming in at No. 78 here is another example. He's one of the best DTs in the NFL. And don't be shocked if his production takes another step forward with the Colts adding arguably the best pass rusher in college football over the last two seasons in Laiatu Latu with their 2024 1st round pick to take some of the pressure off Buckner going forward."

The rankings were made using top 50 ballots that many of our staff at A to Z Sports filled out. Each vote was tallied and was used to create this top 105-player list.

Buckner's point total ended with him being ranked 78th, but if you ask me, I don't see a single argument for him to be left outside of the top 50. But as I shared in my explanation inside the article, I think people around the NFL are in for a rude awakening this season because if rookie Laiatu Latu can take any pressure off Buckner's plate, the former All-Pro could reach new heights in terms of his production. I believe he will show the rest of the league why he is one of the best DTs in the NFL. And who knows, the top spot in the league is wide-open, with Aaron Donald hanging up his cleats this offseason.

The Colts in 2024 could replicate a recent Super Bowl run by a fellow AFC team

The Indianapolis Colts are returning nearly their entire 2023 roster that saw a failed 4th down conversion take away their chance of being crowned the champions of the AFC South. And now Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated has named the Colts his "Dark Horse" team to make a Super Bowl run in 2024.  Breer answered questions […]
