The Indianapolis Colts (3-5) will be on the road this week to take on the Carolina Panthers (1-6).

Their first practice of the week will be today after electing just to do a walkthrough on Wednesday. And while there wasn't a practice, their injury report showed us how they view the status of a few key players.

All signs are pointing toward rookie CB Juju Brents missing a 2nd straight week. With only two practice sessions this week, the injury report on Thursday and Friday becomes very important for the Colts. With a pass rusher like Brian Burns on deck, getting starting RT Braden Smith back would be huge. If he didn't go, it would be another elite pass rusher added to rookie Blake Freeland's trial by fire early in his NFL career.

Thursday Injury Report:

Full Participant:

  • Kylen Granson

Back-to-back full participant days for TE Kylen Granson. Things seem to be progressing toward Granson returning to the field this week after missing Week 8.

Light Participant:

  • Josh Downs

Downs joins the injury report today after not appearing during yesterday's walkthrough. And the reason listed is his knee. It's concerning to see him pop up unexpectedly. We likely won't get an explanation on this until tomorrow, though, which will be more telling of his possible status.

Did Not Practice:

  • Juju Brents
  • Zaire Franklin
  • Braden Smith
  • Blake Freeland

Along with Brents and Smith, Franklin and Freeland couldn't practice today. If both Freeland and Smith can't go, that would be deadly to the Colts offensive line, as they will be going up against one of the NFL's elite pass rushers in, Brian Burns. While Freeland has had his rookie struggles but has outperformed your typical backup offensive tackle, in my opinion. If they both can't go, it would likely mean they would move reserve guard Arlington Hambright over to right tackle.
