Jaguars: Arden Key to have strong interest in open market for free agency
The Jacksonville Jaguars could be in trouble soon.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in danger of losing one of their best defensive players in the 2023 offseason.
Their defense was significantly better than it was in 2021, and a huge reason why is because of one guy on the defensive line.
One of the Jaguars' biggest weapons on defense, and honestly, one of their best players in Arden Key, could be leaving next week and heading for another team in free agency.
Dan Graziano of ESPN stated that the Jaguars free agent defensive tackle is drawing strong interest on the open market.
Jacksonville's Arden Key and Arizona's Zach Allen, who have been mentioned several times to me as players expected to draw strong interest on the open market.
So, it's pretty evident, because of him drawing interest from other teams, the Jaguars could lose him, which would put a big dent in their defensive line.
Key finished with 4.5 sacks last season, which, at his position is great. It was one of the better seasons in his five-year career, as he also was effective in the run as well, posting a Pro Football Focus run defense grade of 74.2.
Per spotrac, Key has a projected market value of $11.3 million annually. The Jaguars, as of Sunday, are $17 million over the cap. Per NFL rules, every team must be back below the cap before Wednesday, March 15.
It will be interesting to see what moves they make to free up cap space, and how much they can free up to go and get Key.
