It makes sense for the Jaguars to do it.

The Jacksonville Jaguars should move on from one of their former first-round picks soon.

There was once a time when this team had one of the best defenses in the league. I mean, they even had the nickname "sacksonville," but today, they have a pretty average defense.

You would think that with the recent draft picks that they have had over the past, especially defensive picks, the Jaguars would have a great defensive unit. And, once again, their defense isn't terrible, it just had the potential to be dominant based on the picks.

Some of those picks failed, and it happens all the time, not just the Jaguars. I think it is pretty obvious K'Lavon Chaisson is one of the guys who did. I think he has been given enough chances to show that potential that we thought he had, but, he hasn't.

So, if you ask me, it may be time to move on from the former first-round pick. Chaisson could either be let go by the team, or traded, but, I don't think he should be in Jacksonville for the 2023 season.

And this is just as much about what's good for him as it is about what's good for the Jaguars. If he can get traded or let go, it would give him an opportunity to start fresh in a different place, which oftentimes works for a lot of players.

He may need a fresh start or a different coach to help him get to where he needs to be and do what we saw him do at LSU.

For the Jaguars, I think they could use the roster spot on someone else. If you cut him, you don't save any cap space because he was a first-rounder on a rookie deal, so the deal is guaranteed.

But, trading him would allow the Jaguars to get something in return. The only thing is, I'm not 100% sure someone would trade for him. But, obviously, getting anything back is better than cutting him and getting nothing.

In 40 career games, Chaisson has just three sacks, which isn't great for a guy who is being put on the field to get to the quarterback. It's not like the sack numbers just aren't there and he is still producing either. Like we have said so many times though, he has the potential, or why else would be had been suh a high prospect and taken so high?

Either way, I think the Jaguars have a difficult decision to make this offseason regarding their first-round pick.
