Andrew Wingard's contract details emerge in free agency deal with Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars got a friendly deal when it comes to their recent re-signing.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed safety Andrew Wingard to a three-year, $9.6 million dollar contract, per A to Z Sports’ Doug Kyed. The deal includes a $3 million signing bonus and $6 million in total guarantees.
Here’s how the deal breaks down
Base salaries:
2023: $1.08 million (fully guaranteed)
2024: $1.92 million
2025: 2.25 million
Wingard's contract includes an additional $200,000 in per-game bonuses each year of his deal. He's also due $250,000 per year in workout bonuses from 2023-2025.
Wingard's cap hit in 2023 will be $2.53M, allowing the Jaguars to keep spending freely in free agency.
Where Wingard's deal with the Jaguars gets interesting is in the incentives, which won't count against the cap unless they're earned.
On top of the $9.6 million he can earn if he plays out his contract, he can make up to $1.75 million in incentives each year (up to $5.25 million).
He can earn those through playing time and Pro Bowl incentives each year.
Wingard isn't a projected starter for the Jaguars but things can change quickly in the NFL. If he gets a shot at playing time, he'll have significant skin in the game.
This deal should be considered a win-win for the Jaguars and Wingard.
