Jacksonville Jaguars made one of the best moves in the AFC that isn't being talked about enough

To get players to come to a team that hasn't been good, you have to overpay, and even then I'd say there is only one deal that the Jaguars made on free agency so far that was a massive overpay — giving former Houston Texans safety Eric Murray starting safety-caliber money. He's good, and will be a good tool for the Jags to use. But, he's not nearly worth what he's paid. Well, not for what he did last year. However, they always say your deal is not for what you've done, but what the team thinks you will do.
Other than that deal, which the jury is still out on, the other deals were good. In fact, they had one of the best deals in the entire AFC.
Our A to Z Sports team put together a list of the best moves in free agency so far and separated them into conferences, and for the AFC, the Jaguars got a steal on Dyami Brown, who played for the Washington Commanders last season.
Jacksonville Jaguars – Signing Dyami Brown
I'll admit it. I’m drinking the Dyami Brown Kool-Aid. $10 million for one year of Brown seems to be an outlier in a market where Demarcus Robinson, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, DeAndre Hopkins, and Mack Hollins are all getting less than $5 million per year…But I don’t really care.
I’m intrigued enough by the upside of Brown that he showed in the playoffs for the Commanders, and with more opportunity as the WR3 in Jacksonville, this could be a really fun breakout candidate in 2025. Liam Coen got an up close look at Brown’s ability in the playoffs with the Bucs. I think Coen will find some interesting ways to use him.
The Jaguars traded Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans, let Evan Engram walk and he has since signed with the Denver Broncos, then they also released Devin Duvernay and Josh Reynolds. So, it's safe to say that the Jaguars needed a wide receiver. They ended up getting Brown for $10 million, which is about as good of a deal as you will get for a deep threat at the level of Brown.
Now, it's time to see if it works out.
