The Jacksonville Jaguars haven't done, anything really, during this offseason, and especially during free agency. They have taken a completely different approach from what they did last off-season when they were super aggressive in free agency.
Last year they went big. They signed Christian Kirk to a massive contract that everyone actually made fun of the Jaguars for doing, even though in reality it ended up being a great deal, considering how he played. They also signed Zay Jones and a few other pieces that helped them get their first playoff win since 2017.
All of the moves they have made this offseason have been strictly in-house, or re-signings if you will. They franchise tagged Evan Engram, and re-signed Tre Herndon, Adam Gotsis, and Andrew Wingard. They signed Tevaughn Campbell. But to one pretty respected NFL analyst, none of those offseason moves were the smartest or most important.
The smartest move by Jacksonville: re-upping consistently underrated defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris.
-Peter King, NBC Sports
Peter King is a brilliant football mind, and he couldn't have been more right about the Jaguars' decision to give Robertson-Harris a three-year, $30 million contract extension. Last year he balled out as he finished with 32 total pressures. The 29-year-old defensive tackle was one of the best in the division last season and could shoulder the load of losing Arden Key as well.
Hopefully, we see the Jaguars make some more moves. There is still time for the Jaguars to make moves too, as they have quite a bit of needs that should be addressed. It's still not too late.
