The Jacksonville Jaguars might be close to signing a familiar face that happens to have six Pro Bowl seasons, one First-Team All-Pro, and over a decade's worth of experience in the NFL: Defensive end Calais Campbell.

Here's an excerpt of the report by Demetrius Harvey from the Florida Times-Union:

“A reunion of sorts could be in play for the Jaguars and veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell, who visited with the team Thursday, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Times-Union.”

The former All-Pro spent three years with the Jaguars between 2017 and 2019 and he played some of the best football of his career in Jacksonville. Over that span, he racked up 31.5 sacks and 44 tackles for loss, per Pro Football Reference.

Of course, Campbell is now 36 years old. He's a different player. Even still, he was productive for the Baltimore Ravens during his three years away.

If the Jaguars end up securing Campbell, they'd be getting a productive presence on defense. Especially after losing Arden Key, Travon Walker could use some reinforcements in the pass rush department.

Keep in mind the Jaguars finished the season as one of the very worst passing defenses in the entire league. The lack of a solid pass rush was made evident in the playoffs when Patrick Mahomes sat comfortably in the pocket all night long during the Divisional Round.

Chances are Campbell won't sign for a very expensive deal considering his age. The Jaguars can also land a mind to mentor younger players in him. It's a no-brainer. Stay tuned.
