The Jacksonville Jaguars have the best quarterback in the AFC South. As of today, such a fact is undisputed. That could potentially change following some of the latest NFL news.

After all, it appears Lamar Jackson wants out of the Baltimore Ravens. He announced on Monday that he requested a trade from the organization early in March via a tweet.

The news does change the outlook for the former MVP quarterback because suddenly it appears it's about more than just getting the right contract offer on the table. Lamar might want out of Baltimore; period.

And while Trevor Lawrence is clearly the present and future of the Jaguars, many other teams should be interested in Jackson's services. When looking around the NFL, the AFC South sticks out as a particularly huge possibility.

The three teams not named the Jaguars in the division have a clear need at quarterback.

The Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts are both expected to pick a rookie QB within the Top 4 picks of this year's NFL Draft. Meanwhile, it's unclear if the Tennessee Titans will stick with Ryan Tannehill, pass the torch to Malik Willis, or maybe even get crazy with a trade on Draft Day.

If there's one NFL team that ultimately makes a deal for Jackson, it's logical to bet on one of the Jaguars' divisional rivals.

Such a transaction would then mean Lawrence would have quite the sparring partner for years to come. It's safe to say that it could turn into one of the most highly-anticipated quarterback rivalries in the conference season after season.

And sure. Jackson staying in Baltimore means an easier path to the AFC South title every year. If he gets traded to the division, Jacksonville would undoubtedly be one of the biggest losers of the move.

But deep, deep down, I'd bet that Jaguars fans are likely itching for what would be one of the most historic developments in division history.

But based on what Trevor Lawrence showed Jaguars fans in 2022, he's unlikely to back down even against the best quarterbacks in the league.
