When people think about the best linebackers in the NFL, chances are images of Fred Warner or Shaquille Leonard play inside their heads. But they likely miss the Jacksonville Jaguars standout that couldn't be more underrated by the national media: Foyesade Oluokun.

Oluokun has quietly led the league in total tackles in back-to-back seasons now. Not only that but in that span he's sneakily recorded three interceptions, three forced fumbles, 12 tackles for loss, and 11 pass deflections.

Perhaps it's the fact that Foyesade Oluokun hasn't been on a high-profile team as he spent his first four years in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons before ending up with the Jaguars. But make no mistake about it: League executives know exactly who he is.

A recent ESPN article by insider Jeremy Fowler ranking the best off-ball linebackers based on a poll to execs, coaches, and scouts doesn't list Foyesade in the top 10. However, he did receive votes as he's listed as an honorable mention.

The reason behind his receiving votes is explained by an anonymous AFC exec:

"Maybe not the standout athlete like some others but extremely durable and extremely consistent," an AFC executive said. "Has a lot on him mentally in that system to get everyone lined up, and he plays it at a high level."

That's a coach's dream if you ask me. Somebody as consistent as Foyesade is somebody you can build a defense around and the Jaguars know it. That's why he played an insane 98.45% of the defensive snaps last year.

Oluokun's mental preparation should also help in the development of the Jags' younger backers like Devin Lloyd and Chad Muma.

Entering the 2023 NFL season, there's no questioning that the Jaguars defense has its share of issues. But Foyesade Oluokun could very well be the biggest reason to be excited about the unit.
