Trevor Lawrence has a very attainable prop bet statistic in 2023
The Jacksonville Jaguars took a big step forward as a franchise in 2022, and that was in no small part to the giant leap forward that QB Trevor Lawrence took from his rookie to sophomore seasons. The Jacksonville Jaguars took a big step forward as a franchise in 2022, and that was in no small part to the giant leap forward that QB Trevor Lawrence took from his rookie to sophomore seasons.
Lawrence completed 387 of 584 passes (66.3%) for 4113 yards and 25 touchdowns to 8 interceptions last season. If he can repeat that passing yardage output again in 2023, he would literally make bettors some cold, hard cash.
Lawrence is listed among the players stats prop bets at DraftKings Sportsbook at -115 to surpass the over/under mark of 4050.5 passing yards for the 2023 season. That mark is particularly baffling because Lawrence is a player who seems to be trending sharply upward in his career.
Now, to be clear, nothing in the gambling world is a guarantee. Injuries happen. Struggles happen. There are always risks. Ergo, to those who can (no, those in Florida cannot place sports bets online) and choose to wager, DO SO RESPONSIBLY.
That being said, there are many positives in Lawrence's favor entering 2023. He has a new #1 wide receiver in Calvin Ridley, who still appears to have the tools to reestablish himself among the best wide receivers in the NFL after an almost two-year absence. Travis Etienne, Evan Engram, Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones are all back, which gives Lawrence one of the best overall groups of skill players to work with in the entire league.
The schedule is navigable as well, with multiple games against Houston and Indianapolis – led by rookie QBs – and the NFC South also on the slate.
If there's one reason for concern, it might be at the offensive tackle spots. With Jawaan Taylor gone in free agency and Cam Robinson suspended for the first four games of the season, the Jaguars will be going with Walker Little and rookie Anton Harrison to start the season. Little has 8 career starts, including the postseason last year, where he held his own. Harrison's stronger suit is in pass protection, so while he's a rookie who's learning, there's hope he won't be too much of a drop off from 2022 there.
Regardless, there's way too much trending upwards for Lawrence and the Jaguars to understand why the mark for Lawrence to reach is less than his passing yardage total in 2022. Accordingly, if Lawrence and the Jaguars do continue their steady improvement, both in the win/loss columns and on the stat sheet, fans and bettors who got down could stand to earn a nice payout when the regular season is over.
