The Jacksonville Jaguars just got absolutely killed by the San Francisco 49ers, to the point where the whole league started worrying about the Jaguars offense. People were calling out Trevor Lawrence for not playing well. And, while he could have played better, it's pretty obvious most of the problems were on the offensive line. The narrative about Trevor Lawrence only going through one read in his progressions was true, to an extent. That's what it looked like against the 49ers, anyway. The offensive line wasn't playing well enough to allow Lawrence to go through those reads.
So, leading into the Tennessee Titans game, a divisional matchup that is almost always close and physical, you knew that Lawrence would want to come out and show that the narratives were wrong. And it just so happens that the offensive line heard the talk, too.
Before the game during the week, this is what head coach Doug Pederson said the issue was with the offensive line:
"I just think they haven't played together for a length of time," Pederson told reporters. "I think there's a lot of moving pieces there. Anton [OL Anton Harrison] continues to improve each week; I said the other day that I thought he had one of his better performances against a really good front.
"Luke [OL Luke Fortner] and Brandon [OL Brandon Scherff] are the staples there. Cam [OL Cam Robinson] is Cam and that left guard spot has been a little bit of a revolving door right now. There's been some uneasiness there, but the more these guys play together, the more comfortable and confident they'll be in these next eight games.
Lawrence has been sacked 24 times and has an average time to throw of 2.4 seconds, which is the second-worst in the league behind Tua Tagovailoa. Lawrence being pressured as much as he is definitely isn't helping the offense. None of those previous numbers mattered on Sunday against the Titans.
Here are the pressures the offensive line allowed on Sunday:
Anton Harrison – 3
Cam Robinson – 3
Brandon Scherff – 1
Luke Fortner – 0
Walker Little – 0
The Jaguars offensive line must have heard all of the talk this week.
