Although the 2023 NFL Draft is still over a week away, Monday is a big day for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Alongside many other NFL teams, it marks the first day of the team's offseason workouts, which are voluntary at this stage of the league calendar. But the big news of the day is the reported absence of tight end Evan Engram.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the recently franchise-tagged player won't be reporting for the Jaguars' voluntary offseason programs and hasn't signed the tag just yet.

It's certainly not something that should catch Jaguars fans by surprise, by the way. After all, they're voluntary workouts. Engram and the team understand it and it's the classic waiting game we've grown used to in the NFL every year.

However, it does raise the question of how far will the team's starting tight end take things this offseason. As of right now, Engram is set to make $11.3M under the tag.

It also raises the question of how likely are the Jaguars to sign him to a long-term deal at some point over the next few months.

The deadline for such a deal is July 17 at 4 p.m. It should be noted that players can't participate in training camp without a new contract, which means a likely scenario is for Engram to sign his tag before then.

Here's how the Jaguars' offseason workout dates are set up:

First Day: April 17th
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 22-23. May 25, May 30-31, June 2, and June 5-8.
Mandatory Minicamp: June 12-14

Engram caught 73 passes for 766 yards and four touchdowns in 2022. He was a big part of Trevor Lawrence's breakout season that gave the Jaguars the sixth-best passing offense per DVOA.
