During the latest NFL owner meetings last week, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars came to a sudden realization about the state of his franchise. A relieving feeling of having figured out how to do the toughest thing you can do in the league: Winning.

"The vibe I get [around this week's meetings] is I think we've cracked the code," Shad Khan said via the team's official website. "We have a great head coach, we have a great general manager, and we have a great quarterback.

"That's the trifecta for success in the NFL," he added.

Teams with such a trifecta know that there's a whole lot more to it, especially when the goal is ultimately lifting the Lombardi Trophy. But in essence, Khan is right.

The Jaguars have figured out something they hadn't done before in their existence.

And with that comes a new position in the league. They're no longer the losing-record Jaguars or even the team trying to put together a "surprise season." This time around, they're built for long-term success.

Now they're even seen as one of the best teams in the NFL. And there are expectations from within the building and outside of it.

That's what stumbling upon a franchise-altering talent as Trevor Lawrence does. At least in part. As the team found out the hard way during the short-lived Urban Meyer days, it's also about finding the right head coach.

Doug Pederson arrived at Jacksonville with Super Bowl credentials. And those who had followed his career knew right away that his quarterback-friendly offense would help the star quarterback's development.

In his first year with the Jaguars, the team's passing offense finished sixth-best in DVOA.

And of course, building the roster with the right general manager is a huge part of it, too. That was a more controversial topic among fans and even media members.

"I've known Trent (Baalke) now for three years," Khan said via the team's website. "I believe in him. Whether he was popular with the fans or not, that's for the fans to decide. He proved what I sure thought he was going to do."

In other words, it's not that the Jaguars got lucky with landing the No. 1 overall pick in a year featuring a quarterback as highly touted as Lawrence. You can argue that's the biggest part of the team's recent surge.

But they have found out a whole lot more than that about building a championship-caliber team. And although Khan is completely correct about the team having the right "trifecta" steering the ship, he likely understands how much more goes into winning a Super Bowl.

The fact that it's even on the radar goes to show how far this franchise has gone.
