Jaguars enter offseason mode after playoff loss with a new 2026 NFL mock draft helping to address Travis Hunter’s future
Now that the Jaguars’ season has come to an end, they have to shift into offseason mode quickly, and a new 2026 NFL mock draft helps them answer a tricky question they face.
The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the hottest teams entering the playoffs, but sadly, the team saw its season come to an end in the NFL’s wildcard round.
The Jaguars were unable to defeat the Buffalo Bills, and now a season that saw Jacksonville win 13 games in the regular season comes to an end. This was just the first year of the new regime, and the team achieved more success than anyone saw coming.
Now, they head into the offseason, hoping to build on this success and plan to be Super Bowl contenders next season. They will have multiple decisions to make including what their long term plan will be for last years first round pick Travis Hunter. Their first selection in a new 2026 NFL mock draft would help them do just that.
Jaguars select Indiana Hoosiers star CB D’Angelo Ponds in a new 2026 NFL mock draft
“The secondary is the weakness right now for the Jaguars. Ponds is a unique player who could play on the outside or in the slot, potentially. What he lacks in size, he makes up for with speed and tenacity.” – New A to Z Sports 3-round mock draft

The Jaguars’ new leadership, led by general manager James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen, began their tenure with a significant move in the 2025 NFL Draft. They traded up to the second pick of the first round to select two-way college phenom Travis Hunter.
Sadly, his rookie season with the team was cut short due to injury. Even before that, though, the Jaguars were struggling to figure out which position between WR and CB should be Hunter’s focus. They don’t own a first-rounder this year, so they have to wait till the second to land a player and could use the pick to help decide what Hunter’s primary role will be in 2026.
In a new A to Z Sports mock draft that landed Indiana Hoosiers CB D’Angelo Ponds. Ponds is an undersized outside CB, but his coverage iq and skills are next level. The Hoosiers have trusted him to travel with opposing teams’ top WRs all year long, including Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith.
If the Jaguars went this route, I would expect Hunter’s primary role to be at WR next year while also having a role on defense. The Jaguars would have a special group of WRs in that case, with Hunter joining Brian Thomas, Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers.
