You might've heard by now but the Jacksonville Jaguars are finally really good!
The team's owner is talking about how they've "cracked the code" and Trevor Lawrence is slowly cracking into everyone's Top 5 quarterbacks heading into the 2023 NFL season. It's a good time to root for the Jaguars.
Not that they haven't had their moments before. After all, the Jaguars have appeared in three AFC Championship Games in their short history. However, this time it's different because of one simple thing: There are big-time expectations for next season already.
You see, the Jaguars' playoff odds are out, according to BetOnline. And spoiler alert: they're one of the heaviest favorites to make it to the postseason.
So, will the Jaguars make it to January football? Let's take a quick look at what the oddsmakers say.
- Yes -190 (10/19)
- No +155 (31/20)
If you don't speak sports betting, that's fine. Those numbers mean if you bet on the Jaguars to make the playoffs, you'd have to bet $190 dollars to win $100. Conversely, if you bet $100 on them not making the playoffs, you'd win $155.
Or for simplicity's sake, those odds can also be interpreted the following way: The Jaguars have a 65.5% chance of making the playoffs. But let's add some context to that.
In the AFC, only the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills have better odds to make it. In other words, the Jaguars are the third-highest favorite to make the postseason in the conference.
If that doesn't send a message that the Jaguars are completely for real, I don't know what else could at this time of the year.
But I know what you're thinking. It's only April! And you're right. But make no mistake about it, this is a very positive sign for Jacksonville. Last year was far from a one-year wonder.
The Jaguars have what it takes to be legitimate contenders next year.
