Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence can't seem to get any respect.

Lawrence, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, had a bit of a rough rookie season, passing for just 12 touchdowns against 17 interceptions.

But that tough rookie season shouldn't be criticized too heavily. Lawrence wasn't exactly in an ideal situation playing under Urban Meyer, who proved to be a disastrous fit as an NFL coach.

This past season, Lawrence played to his potential, passing for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The former Clemson standout reached his first Pro Bowl as a result of his stellar sophomore campaign.

Lawrence also led the Jaguars to a win in the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Chargers before falling 27-20 on the road to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

I'm not sure what more you could expect out of a No. 1 overall pick in his second season. No, he didn't lead the Jaguars to the Super Bowl in his second season like Joe Burrow led the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl in his second season, but Lawrence wasn't that far away. And Lawrence was arguably in a tougher situation in his second season because he was adjusting to a new head coach and he also didn't have superstar wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase to lean on like Burrow had.

Despite Lawrence's success in 2022, he was labeled this week by NFL Network's Kyle Brandt as a Tier Six quarterback in the AFC.

Lawrence saw the ranking and fired back at Brandt on Thursday morning, tweeting "The game ain't played on paper".

It's nice to see some fire from Lawrence.

Lawrence has all the ingredients to become a superstar in the NFL. If he continues to show more of his personality — which is apparently the key to being liked by the national media — then he could become the next trendy quarterback that NFL Network loves to hype.
