The Jacksonville Jaguars are attempting to figure out their current running back room Travis Etienne has been a piece to the puzzle for some time now, but young players are pushing to pull snaps away from him in thew backfield. Tank Bigsby has impressed during training camp and started to take steps forward at the end of last season.

Rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten is also trying his hardest to play a role in his first professional season. Tuten has blazing speed, but he’s determination and gritty running was actually quite impressive for the Jags in their preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Tuten’s 40 time ahead of the draft was the fifth-fastest out of all players who ran at the scouting combine.

Tuten runs hard and provides upside for Jags

In a game that wasn’t pretty at times for either team, Tuten pushed himself. He averaged just 3.5 yards per carry but ran hard and got into the end zone. The rookie also caught one pass for six yards. He did not play much in the second half, as other depth pieces got extended looks for the Jags.

As of now, it feels like Tuten will be the third RB in the rotation for Jacksonville, but he can quickly garner a bigger role if struggles occur for Etienne or Bigsby. Plus, injuries have played a role for both players so far in their NFL careers. Tuten will probably get opportunities in the regular season this year for Coen’s offense. He needs to take advantage.
