One thing is for sure: The Jacksonville Jaguars have no shortage of starting-caliber wide receivers heading into training camp.

When the 2023 NFL season starts, Christian Kirk, Calvin Ridley, and Zay Jones will be lined up on offense as Trevor Lawrence gives them all a share of the team's targets. That trio of wideouts will cause headaches for opposing defensive coordinators all season long.

However, what isn't clear yet is who will be the top dog out of that group. The hype around Ridley, the new kid on the block, is well-earned. Over the first three years of his career, he averaged over 1,000 receiving yards per year and nine touchdowns per season.

And yet, Kirk's experience in Doug Pederson's system and the fact that he was the Jaguars' WR1 just last year could give him an edge. Now granted, Kirk specializes in working from the slot while Ridley's snaps will come on the boundary. They're not fighting for playing time.

They're fighting to be the quarterback's focus of attention week in and week out. Well, according to the oddsmakers, that battle is already over.

Betting odds for most receiving yards during the 2023 NFL regular season

Based on recent betting odds by BetOnline, Ridley is favored over Kirk for who will have the most receiving yards in the NFL. Neither of the Jaguars receivers is very high on the list but the newcomer's odds are better than Kirk's. Here's how they break down and where they rank in the league:

  • Calvin Ridley: 45-to-1 (T-21st)
  • Christian Kirk: 60-to-1 (T-27th)

Ultimately, Ridley doesn't care that much about being the top dog on offense. Or at least, that's what he claims.

"I want to make him better, he wants to make me better," Ridley told reporters earlier in training camp.
