Trevor Lawrence, the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise quarterback, is only in his third year and is already setting trends that elite QBs are following.
What do I mean by that? Well, look no further than what Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is going viral for.
Against the Cincinnati Bengals, when Lawrence rolled his ankle and was helped off of the field, he didn't use a golf cart. It was his decision. Let's make that clear because all of the talking heads in sports media made a ruckus about not having a golf cart.
First, every NFL franchise has a golf cart. Second, this is Florida we are talking about here; of course, the Jaguars have a golf cart.
Lawrence made sure to clarify that the team does indeed have several golf carts, and he just didn't want one. He thought he could make the walk to the locker room.
Then, Lawrence, as a joke but also a big "F you" to all of those sports media people who criticized the organization, got his entire offensive line golf carts. There is a video of them driving them during practice, and it's one of the few times we have seen Lawrence be petty.
Now, for Christmas, Patrick Mahomes got his offensive lineman some golf carts, as there is a video of them driving theirs during practice as well. Did Lawrence start this? Probably not, but it feels like no one has done this in a while, so I'm going to go ahead and say he is a trendsetter, even for the two-time Super Bowl MVP.
