Jacksonville Jaguars’ win over Kansas City Chiefs came at a costly price for one of Liam Coen’s most talented young players
It was a price to pay during the MNF victory.
The NFL is a tough operation. Even in wins, sometimes you lose, and that’s the case in one important way for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Liam Coen’s team is 4-1, following a Week 5 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in primetime. That being said, a notable offensive injury is a case for concern for the Jags going forward.
Tight end Brenton Strange was forced to leave the game against the Chiefs, and now, the team is making a roster move with the young playmaker.
Brenton Strange placed on injured reserve after Monday Night Football injury
According to reports, Brenton Strange has been place don the injured reserve by the Jags. Strange suffered a hip/quad injury during the team’s massive, exciting win over Kansas City on Monday evening. The win came at a cost for the Jags, but Strange has been one of the best stories of their success so far this season.
Strange’s development proves an NFL trend hasn’t changed
We’ve all often heard about how tight ends take time. Young players at that position usually need some “marinating” at the pro level to get up to speed, both mentally and physically. Their development cannot be rushed, and Strange is a great example of precisely that.
I talked with A to Z’s own Rob Gregson about Strange’s exciting potential and continual growth so far in his young NFL career. He’s got the talent to be a valuable weapon in Liam Coen’s offense for the future, even after this frustrating injury.
“Brenton Strange should be the poster child for why development at all positions, but especially TE, takes time in the NFL. The Brock Bowers and Tyler Warrens of the world are few and far between. After less-than-stellar numbers in his first two seasons, Strange came on strong to start his 2025 campaign. He already had half the receptions (20) and nearly half the amount of yards (201) through five games as he did all of last season.
So it’s a minor setback in what is still shaping up to be a breakout season, should Strange return to form after his quad heals. Liam Coen and his offense are performing at a high clip, and his reintegration into the passing scheme should be seamless in a month or so, but for now, his absence will be felt.” — Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports
Luckily for the Jags, this injury is only expected to keep the tight end out for around a month, according to Mike Garafolo. That’s much better than a season-ender, particularly when you consider that it wasn’t due to a physical play.
Hopefully for Jacksonville, Strange can return at full strength and give Trevor Lawrence more talent in the passing game once again this campaign.
