Jourdan Lewis is already winning the hearts of Jacksonville Jaguars fans with latest message on social media
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been working hard during free agency, and I think everyone can see that. The Jacksonville Jaguars have been working hard during free agency, and I think everyone can see that. Before it started, they released some players to get some cap relief, and they instantly started signing guys with that cap space.
And, it's not like they are just spending money to spend it, or blowing through it. They are addressing crucial needs with good football players. Have they overpaid on some guys? Yes. But, when you just finished a season with four wins, you usually will have to overpay to get the good players that you want. And, they have had to do that a bit. However, there hasn't really been anything crazy to happen. The closest thing you could argue is the contract that former Houston Texans safety Eric Murray got.
And, you could argue that was a simple overpay at a position of need. The signing of former Dallas Cowboys slot cornerback has some people up in arms, not many, but they are out there. But, here's the deal, Lewis is the perfect fit for what the Jaguars need, even if they had to pay him as the top slot in the league.
The skills he brings to the table are great — he absolutely is one of the best slot corners in the league, and having an elite slot these days is key with how offenses are run. Back in the day, a slot corner was used far less than they are today, where they are almost always on the field.
Besides his skills and talent, he brings something else to the Jaguars defense, something they need. Let's just say he's a "dawg."
We've heard the story about him trash-talking Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon Ra St. Brown when he played for the Dallas Cowboys. Now, he's posting tweets about old videos that will hit close to home with Jaguars fans.
I think we all remember the video. His caption was perfect, too. It feels like he's going to bring the energy and culture.
