Jags HC Liam Coen gets brutally honest on Travon Walker’s ejection and situation against the Las Vegas Raiders
Liam Coen and the Jaguars cannot have that happen from Travon Walker against the Raiders.
In the Jacksonville Jaguars’ win over the Las Vegas Raiders on the road, one of the Jags’ best players, Travon Walker, was ejected. He threw a punch at a Raiders offensive lineman, and the referees immediately threw him out.
The Jaguars don’t typically operate in that manner, especially under this new regime.
“I didn’t see it, man,” head coach Liam Coen started to say in his postgame press conference as he rubbed his face. “I know he mentioned something that was said, but they’re always going to get the second guy. And we can’t have it. We can’t. He knows that. Frustrating moment for sure, but those are the things we have to avoid as a team and organization because all it does is make us a little handcuffed.”
Jaguars cannot afford to have Travon Walker miss due to suspension
If Walker ends up missing the next game with a suspension, that could be extremely vital to the Jags’ season. This game, they finished it out because, let’s be honest, the Raiders aren’t that good. However, the Houston Texans, next week, in a divisional rivalry, are a team that can beat the Jags if they don’t have Walker.
Yes, C.J. Stroud could miss next week with a concussion. However, if he doesn’t, putting pressure on the Texans’ offensive line is how you really shut down their offense. That’s what Walker does so well, maybe better than anyone on the team, not named Joshua Hines-Allen.
The Jags need Walker for the rest of their defense to be as successful as possible. Sure, he doesn’t always show up in the stats sheet, but what he does is vital for that side of the ball. The Jaguars cannot and will not have players who react that way and let their emotions get the best of them in a negative way.
It’s clear that Coen and this new regime will not stand for it.
