It seems like every week, there is a controversial roughing the passer penalty in the NFL.

Well, this week, the NFL has decided to fine a star Jacksonville Jaguars player for a play in which no flag was thrown, but they are deeming roughing the passer.

Jaguars Josh Hines-Allen fined for sack in Week 14

During the last play in the first half, Jaguars Josh Hines-Allen blew right past Tennessee Titans JC Latham to deliver a hard hit and sack on quarterback Will Levis. That play would end the half and would result in Levis missing some time in the game.

There's no arguing that the hit was hard, but the league's deeming it roughing the passer seems almost egregious. Was Hines-Allen not supposed to try to force the fumble on the sack like he did? In this situation, Allen was simply doing his job and excelling at it. But now, the play is costing Hines-Allen $16,883.00, as the NFL has fined him.

His fine is one of 23 handed out by the NFL in Week 14, and it is tied for the fifth most expensive one. Hines-Allen will have to shake this off and move on to the next game, with the Jaguars set to host the New York Jets in Week 15. Although the Jaguars will not be playing in the postseason, their win over the Titans last week shows they are still very motivated to bring home wins for the Jaguars and their fan base.
