Josh Allen hits the perfect note with his heartfelt postgame message to Joe Burrow following Bills’ dramatic win over the Bengals
Josh Allen had a lot to say about Joe Burrow after the win.
The Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals battled it out in an instant classic that was a shame it wasn’t televised as a primetime game.
Both quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, were electric in the contest, accounting for eight total touchdowns. Ultimately, it was some big plays from No. 17 and Christian Benford that swung the game in Buffalo’s favor.
It was a snowy, beautiful fourth-quarter comeback in one of the final games inside Highmark Stadium. Once again, Allen reminded the league that no game is out of reach when he’s on the field.
Josh Allen had quite the statement about Burrow after the win
Immediately after the game, Allen spoke with Pam Oliver from Fox Sports to discuss the victory, and QB1 didn’t hold back with his responses. The reigning MVP was quick to give Burrow his flowers, deservingly so for the performance that the opposing quarterback had during the loss.
Allen was actually asked about his own performance, but quickly turned the conversation to his teammates and his opponent in Burrow. A class act on and off the field and another reminder of how special Allen truly is.
“Just trying to make plays for my team, they work their tails off,” Allen said. “This was a really good team that we just played, one of the best offenses, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and really of all-time. The dude is an absolute stud. To find a way to get this dub, the way it happened, I’m very proud of my guys.”
Allen offered high praise for his teammates after the win
Once again, the team had a fourth-quarter comeback, similar to the Week 1 performance. Allen jokingly poked fun at the Bills Mafia, saying they hoped that they had stayed this time. Fans were leaving in droves during the Week 1 comeback, and wouldn’t make the same mistake this time.
Continuing on in his interview, Allen offered a statement about the team that the entire fan base can get behind.
“I mean, the fight in this team is unbelievable,” Allen said. “Didn’t have much hope, had a sliver, but that’s all we need. Just need a chance, need the football. Our defense made some huge plays down the stretch. Found a way to get it done, onto the next.”
When all hope felt lost, the team found a way to get a crucial stop and get Allen the football back. Then, late in the game, on a third-and-15, Allen once again put the team on his back, icing the game for the Bengals and securing the win in Western New York.
Things need to turn around for Buffalo, and Allen knows it
Outside of the lack of a passing attack, or rather a true No. 1 wide receiver, one of the biggest issues facing the team is their turnovers as of late. Running back James Cook had a costly fumble in one of the most crucial moments of the game, and Allen has been turning the ball over at a much higher clip than he had during his MVP season.
The franchise quarterback understands that the team needs to be better in that specific area, something he pointed out in the closing moments of his interview. He was asked about what the team can focus on to maintain success, and his answer was an obvious one.
“Just smart decisions, understanding when and when not to take risks,” Allen mentioned. “Won the turnover battle, we’re pretty good when we do that. So make sure that we’re holding onto the football.”
At the end of the day, the Bills came away with yet another season-defining win, but Allen made it clear that the job’s not done, and there’s still work to be accomplished. The snow, the comeback, the chaos, it was all a reminder of how dangerous this Bills team with Allen can truly be. If the Bills clean up the turnovers and continue to lean on their superstar quarterback, they’ll remain one of the most dangerous teams heading into the most crucial stretch of the season.
