Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' recent scheduling comment should scare opponents for the rest of the season

The Kansas City Chiefs got it done in Week 12. It wasn't pretty at times. They made some frustrating mistakes. That's the NFL, though. Even of the league's top dogs can have tough weeks where they figure out a way to win.

For Kansas City, that concept has appeared more often than just a week recently, though. They just beat the 3-8 Carolina Panthers by three in Week 12. In Week 10, the Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos, 16-14.

Between Weeks 8 and 9, Kansas City won their games by a combined 13 points over a couple of struggling teams in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Las Vegas Raiders. They've played plenty of close games during this recent stretch.

Sleeping giants?

Tracy Wolfson made a great point on social media after the Chiefs narrowly beat the Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

She mentioned that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes felt that noon games (1 P.M. ET) were a struggle. Their past two narrow wins have been during that time slot.

As Wolfson notes, games at that time slot are not going away for Kansas City.

In Week 13, they'll play at 2 P.M. ET on Friday. That is a bit different, but it's no night game in primetime, either. As far as Sunday/Saturday matchups go, the Chiefs will finish their season with three straight games at that time slot that has been a bit difficult for the team recently.

Why should that scare opponents if they have seen struggles earlier in the day on Sunday?

They've still found ways to win those games.

If the Chiefs can iron out some mistakes, then they'll become even scarier during the time slot that has given them the most trouble in 2024 when it comes to a large scale look at their schedule and performances.

They were unbeatable for more than half of the season. Now, with some realization like this from Mahomes, he and his team will only be more determined to play cleaner football during lunch time.
