The Las Vegas Raiders have been in contract negotiations with their star tight end for quite some time now.
It started this offseason When Darren Waller let the front office know he wanted an extension, and he also wanted to be the highest-paid tight end in the league.
The drama has loomed throughout the offseason and preseason, just enough for the national media to take notice. When Waller missed a preseason game to go down the street and watch the Las Vegas Aces game, everyone thought he would be holding out.
Recently, Waller changed agencies to help with the negotiations, but as of Wednesday, September 7th, still no new extension.
However, on Wednesday, another tight end signed a contract, only hurting the Raiders and their negotiations even more.
The Buffalo Bills Dawson Knox just became one of the five highest-paid tight ends in football after signing a four-year, $53.6 million contract extension.
This doesn't look good for the raiders, at all.
If Knox is getting that money, imagine what Waller should be getting. Knox eclipsed the 500 receiving yard mark last year for the first time in his career, finishing with 587.
Waller did 600 receiving yards last season in three fewer games. He also had back-to-back 1000 yards years in 2019 and 2020.
I don't think there is much explaining needed. Give the man his money.
