The Las Vegas Raiders are in need of a new starting quarterback.
There are plenty of options from rookies like C.J. Stroud and Will Levis to veterans like Aaron Rodgers and Baker Mayfield. There's plenty of potential names that'll join the conversation for the Raiders, but one QB has emerged around the rumor mill.
Mac Jones is the current starting QB for the New England Patriots. He was drafted to NE while Josh McDaniels was their offensive coordinator.
Now, with McDaniels in LV, could Jones join him as the Raiders new starter?
For Raiders fans, it probably wouldn't be the ideal scenario. In a lot of ways, Jones provides a similar play style and ceiling that Derek Carr did in Vegas.
Jones has shown glimpses of impressive play at the NFL level, but it has been mostly mediocre. His weapons in New England haven't been the most talented, but that doesn't change his physical ability.
He has limited arm strength, and his decision making was subpar last season.
Overall, moving on from Carr just to add Mac Jones wouldn't be the best option.
It sounds like New England will look at potential replacements for Jones, so they aren't sold on him, either. McDaniels' relationship with Mac could play a role, but only time will tell.
The Raiders need to make a splash and do their best to make a clear upgrade at QB during this off-season.
