Ashton Jeanty is already showing off at Raiders rookie minicamp what we rarely saw from the RB room in 2024

Watching the Las Vegas Raiders' run game in 2024 was more of a punishment than a reward. This team was historically bad at running the ball.
You could take away every team's rushing yards they got from the QB and WR positions, along with the RB position, but leave the Raiders' total rushing yards from every position, and they still are last in rush yards. And, there are a ton of reasons why the run game was bad, not just one singular thing. But, the guys they had in the room were a huge reason why.
Firstly, the running back room was awful. We are talking about Zamir White, Alexander Mattison, and Sincere McCormick being the guys to get the most work in the room. On top of that, the run scheme and blocking scheme that Luke Getsy was running did not fit the skillset of any of his players.
You just didn't ever see the RB room making any nice jump cuts, shedding tackles at the line of scrimmage, or breaking away for a long one. It just didn't happen — the footwork was never there. None of those guys had the footwork or movement to make things happen the way they needed to happen, to make up for being in a scheme that they didn't really fit into.
This time around, you can already tell that it won't be that way. With Ashton Jeanty, there is no such thing as bad footwork, and he showed that on Day 1 of rookie minicamp.
It's hard to really judge running backs during minicamp or training camp, especially when the pads aren't on, because they aren't getting hit; however, watching Jeanty and the way he moves, you can just tell that he has it. He is the complete package when it comes to the pureness of running the ball.
Jeanty put on a show with a few drills during minicamp, just giving the fans a small glimpse of what is to come. In the AFC West against teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, or Denver Broncos, you will have to have a good running game.

The Raiders still have their dude.
