There's no doubt the Las Vegas Raiders are going to improve their run game from the 20254 season. Even if they didn't add Ashton Jeanty, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, and Chip Kelly, it would be improved.

Because, let's face it, it's hard to be worse than what they were last year — a historically bad rushing offense, the worst in the league by a wide margin. So, what did the Raiders do? They went and drafted the best running back in the 2025 NFL Draft, who was also one of the best college running backs we have ever seen. His season at Boise State last year was something special, as you could argue he should have been the Heisman Trophy winner.

Adding him, an offensive coordinator who knows how to run an offense, install a running scheme that fits his players' strengths, and call plays well, will only help, too. And you can even flip it back on Kelly — giving him an RB like Jeanty will only help, as we saw him take guys like Shady McCoy when he coached the Philadelphia Eagles, and McCoy led the league in rushing.

So, what can we expect from Jeanty in the Raiders' run game? He has the perfect descriptor of his game that fans will love.

"I've got so many different ways to describe how I run, but I think my favorite somebody said that I was a rolling ball of knives," Jeanty told reporters at his introductory press conference when asked how he would describe his game.

When you watch his tape and his film, you certainly see that — he bounces off opposing players like he's sharp and would cut them if they tried to tackle him. He's insanely hard to bring down. And, despite his size, which he's not the tallest dude in the world, he's so good at breaking tackles and keeping his balance after being hit.

Jeanty is certainly the best pure runner in the entire draft, and it's not close. And, to make things even better, he didn't start playing running back full-time until his senior year of high school. Before that, he played in the slot, so he's used to catching the ball out of the backfield. Last year, he just didn't do it as much at Boise State.

Jeanty is not only going to help change this offense, but he's going to help change the franchise.
