We all know that the Las Vegas Raiders are looking for their quarterback, whether it be a guy they could use for one year or even a guy they need long-term to build their team around. The bottom point is they need a player who can sling the rock and win them ball games. They need a quarterback to help them compete with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Well, some fans are going to hate this, but that guy could be available and for very cheap. They wouldn't even have to spend a draft pick.
According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Russell Wilson of the Denver Broncos would be open to joining a team on a veteran minimum deal if it meant he was a starter. That means the teams who don't have a current quarterback with their spot held down could be landing spots for Wilson in 2024.
The Raiders happen to be a team that needs a quarterback. Now, I'm not saying they should do this, but it's certainly something they should look into. Let's say they know they won't be able to trade up and get a guy they really want.
Signing Wilson for a vet minimum would be amazing for their cap situation. They could build around him so much better by using money and draft capital. And, let's not get it twisted, Wilson was not that bad this last season. He would certainly outplay his veteran contract.
Now, this has a Raiders move written all over it. They love taking guys like Jimmy Garoppolo and signing them. However, the one issue is that Wilson does not fit the Raider culture at all. So, I doubt this happens. However, this league is crazy, so you never know what can happen.
