Not only are the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders one of the biggest rivalries of all time, but they now both have two players who love playing against one another because they are that competitive. The Patrick Mahomes – Maxx Crosby rivalry is great, especially after hearing what the two say to one another during the game.
We will likely have those two playing against one another twice a year for the next few years, as it doesn't seem like either guy will be moving out of the AFC West any time soon. They played one another on Sunday, but this time, the Chiefs got the better of the Raiders despite the only sack of the game for Las Vegas coming from Crosby.
But Mahomes respects Crosby a ton, and after the game, he had some very big praise for a guy who is considered to be the most Raider-like guy on the team.
"He's at the top of the list. He's a dog, man," Mahomes said to reporters after the game. "The fact that he played today speaks to who he is. Not just because it was against us but because he wanted to be out there for his teammates. That's the type of guy you want on your team.
"I have a ton of respect for him. People see us trash-talking, but that's just the competitors that both of us are. But I know every time I go against him, I will get his best, and he will get the same."
This week, Crosby went through a ton just to be able to play. He had swelling in his knee, which had fluid buildup, and then he figured out that the fluid buildup had bacteria in it. He was dealing with flu-like symptoms and was at the hospital on Saturday.
However, he said he would die before he missed against the Chiefs.
That's what this rivalry is about. These two carry it well, too.
