The Las Vegas Raiders are now 1-4, and yes, it isn't looking good. This year definitely didn't start the way we all thought it would have, and it could end in a completely different way than we had originally thought.
This team went from making the playoffs last year, and being one piece away from contending to now being one of the worst teams in the league, or at least that is the national media's thought.
The defense added some really good pieces, especially Chandler Jones, and he also is not doing what we thought he would. He is being paid to sack the quarterback, yet, it is Week 6 now and he has yet to register a sack on the season, while Maxx Crosby has six sacks.
The offense added the best receiver in the league in Davante Adams, and signed Waller to a long-time contract, too. Not to mention, they added depth at a lot of positions on offense.
So, forgive me if I make it sound like the sky is falling.
While it still is, there is some positive in all of this. No, we don't really like taking moral victories, but when you are 1-4, you might want to start.
There is one thing this game showed that proves the Raiders are actually a good football team, but just haven't had things go their way.
According to OptaSTATS on Twitter, the Raiders are the first-ever team to have a 150-yard rusher (Josh Jacobs), a 100-yard receiver (Davante Adams), no turnovers, and no more than two punts in one game, and still lose.
Now, what does this exactly tell us? Well, in my opinion, it shows that they are heading in the right direction. If they can do this every game and have a gameplan to execute so that they have this at the end of every game, I promise they won't lose much.
They ran into a very good Kansas City Chiefs team, maybe the best in the league, with terrible officiating on both sides, and still gave them a run for their money.
This is a good team here, and maybe the best 1-4 team of all time. However, things just have not gone their way, and that happens in this league. Yes, the officiating was terrible, but you can't blame the loss on that when Kansas City got their fair share too.
Things have to be better and all the little things have to be tightened up.
This team is on a bye week in Week 6, so they should use this to get healthy, rest, and get ready to come out of the bye with vengeance.
