Sure, the season didn't go as planned once again. This was better, though. At least this time, the Raiders were fighting for a playoff spot and not fighting for a top-five pick like last year. They improved their overall record by two wins.
But what one player did against the Denver Broncos in their last game, specifically Davante Adams, made Raiders history. He had been doing it all year, but this one is special. Here is what the Raiders' PR team tweeted about Adams and the history he made:
WR Davante Adams has notched his fourth consecutive season with 100+ catches. He is 1 of only two players in the NFL (Stefon Diggs) to have 100+ receptions in each of the last four seasons. His streak of four seasons with 100+ receptions is tied for the longest active streak in the NFL and tied for the 2nd longest streak in NFL history. WR Davante Adams is now also the first player in Raiders history to record multiple seasons with 100+ receptions.
The Las Vegas Raiders had one of the worst offenses in the league this season. The only reason they put up 63 points is because of the two defensive scores and the short-field advantage the defense was giving the offense. Remember the beginning of the season when they were struggling to even get 20 points?
That pretty much continued throughout the year. That right there should tell you what Davante Adams had to put up with on the offense. And now, he is the first Raiders player in the history of the franchise to record multiple seasons with 100+ receptions. Think about all of the great wide receivers this franchise has had, and Adams is the only one to do that.
That's why he will one day be a Hall of Famer.
