ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler thinks the Las Vegas Raiders "will have a hard time" keeping safety Tre’von Moehrig this offseason.

Moehrig, a second round selection by the Raiders in the 2021 NFL Draft, is set to be a free agent when the new league year begins in March.

"Multiple personnel evaluators we've spoken to believe Moehrig's 2024 film was the best of any free agent safety," wrote Fowler. "The Raiders will have a hard time keeping him."

From ESPN: An ascending player, Moehrig notched five interceptions and 12 pass breakups over the past two seasons. He had five tackles for loss in 2024. He has the range to play from depth, and he is a tone-setter on contact when he spins down into the front.

Moehrig ranked second on the Raiders in tackles (104) in 2024 and tied for second in interceptions with two.

Antonio Pierce, the Raiders' head coach during the 2024 season, praised Moehrig during the season for his development while suggesting that the former TCU standout wants to remain in Las Vegas.

“He’s done a lot of positive things that don’t always show up on film," said Pierce. "Just from his communication, from being more vocal, from leading the room in that DB room and now being one of the older guys in that room because it’s a very young room. I mean, I think you got to be honest, he was a second-round draft pick of the Raiders, and we want to keep all these kinds of guys around. He wants to be here and he’s showing that he should be here.”

Whether or not Moehrig remains with the Raiders will depend on what kind of market develops for the safety when he hits free agency.

Las Vegas, however, is expected to have a little over $100 million in cap space this offseason, so they should be able to match—or at least remain competitive with—whatever offers Moehrig receives.
