Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers made it clear early in the season that he wanted a contract extension. The two sides made no progress, so he then made it clear he wanted out of dodge. Since then, no movement has been made, but the Nov. 4 trade deadline is rearing its ugly head.

With the Raiders being sellers, Meyers could be moved. However, he’s made it clear how he feels, whether it be a trade or an extension.

“Oh, for sure,” Meyers said Tuesday regarding standing firm on his trade request. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out there and play wherever I’m supposed to be.”

Raiders should just move Meyers at or before the deadline

It’s too late for an extension – Meyers doesn’t even want one.

“That window kind of just closed with the offseason in it,” Meyers said. “If it gets done, I don’t care for real. I really just want to be in a good spot for me [and] my family… [The Raiders] know how I feel,” Meyers said. “It’s no reason for me to keep going back crying to them, ‘Can you get me out of here?’ If you move me, you move me. But in the meantime, I got some real people that I care about next to me, so I’m trying to make sure I’m being my best self for them.”

The Raiders should trade him now or sometime before the deadline, rather than hanging on to a guy who doesn’t want to be there, because he isn’t feeling like he is wanted. That will, or could, only make things worse in the locker room.

This team is obviously not good and should probably start focusing on the 2026 NFL Draft. So, why not get some draft compensation for Meyers before you lose him for nothing, as seeing how they’re obviously not going to extend him.

Whatever the Raiders are going to do, or plan to do, they should go ahead and get it done as soon as possible. However, on the trade side, Meyers being hurt certainly doesn’t help the Raiders.
