It’s an interesting offseason for the Las Vegas Raiders, who welcome head coach Pete Carroll into the fold. The quarterback position is going to be the main topic of conversation, but it appears free agency may end up being the route this team goes.
When we take a step back and stop obsessing over the signal caller options, you see that there are other massive needs all over this Raiders roster. The 2025 NFL Draft should go a long way to filling some of those holes. Here are some names to know.
Round 1, Pick 6: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
Johnson has gone from blue chip player to someone people are undervaluing. He is long, very quick, smooth, and extremely intelligent. Don’t overthink it.
Round 2, Pick 37: Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama
While Campbell is still figuring it out from a processing perspective, he is a freaky overall athlete. With his combination of length, range, and coverage upside, Campbell has the ability to play all three linebacker positions potentially.
Round 3, Pick 68: TreyVeon Henderson, RB, Ohio State
The Raiders need to add some serious juice to their running back room, and that’s exactly what Henderson provides. His medicals could cause him to fall slightly but the Raiders could be getting a steal. This is a home run waiting to happen.
Round 3, Pick 73: Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State
Upgrading wide receiver should be a priority in free agency and the draft. Higgins brings a big body and smooth movement skills. While he isn’t the most dynamic athlete, Higgins should be a nice complimentary piece at the very least.
Round 4, Pick 107: Kevin Winston Jr., S, Penn State
If not for medicals, Winston could have gone much earlier. He is an explosive athlete with length for days. If he can get back to full health, he’s a rangy defender who is one of the best open field tacklers you will find.
Round 5, Pick 144: Charles Grant, OT, William & Mary
If not for the injury, Grant would be talked about a lot more. He is incredibly long and athletic. There are plenty of raw tools to develop here.
Round 6, Pick 182: Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville
After the latest buzz, there’s a good chance that Shough ends up going much earlier. Go yell at mock draft simulators and not me. If he is available, Shough does have some nice tools to work with.
Round 6, Pick 214: Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon
If Caldwell is somehow there in this spot, run to the podium. He is an immovable object that has very underrated quickness as well. There’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to help on early running downs.
Round 6, Pick 218: Jah Joyner, EDGE, Minnesota
Joyner didn’t have the 2024 season most people predicted. He still is long and extremely talented. Being able to be around someone like Maxx Crosby would be a huge help in development.
Round 7, Pick 224: Jackson Slater, IOL, Sacramento State
Slater is about as consistent as you will find, and that matters so much at this point in the draft. He has the profile to back up all three interior positions.
