The Las Vegas Raiders have hired their assistant head coach, Mike McCoy. Andrew Janocko is the new offensive coordinator, and Rob Leonard will serve as defensive coordinator. They will work alongside new head coach Klint Kubiak. Now the team needs to fill out everything else.

One of the next big hires is the offensive line coach. That unit was terrible last season and needs a lot of fixing. The line must be great if they want their rookie quarterback to play well in 2026. An even more important coaching position may be the quarterback coach, which they may find very soon.

According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, one name to watch for the Raiders’ vacant quarterbacks coach role is Minnesota Vikings assistant QB coach Jordan Traylor, who’s also the assistant offensive coordinator. Traylor previously worked with Kubiak and Janocko with the New Orleans Saints.

The Raiders are looking for a specific type of coach at that position, and Kubiak laid the blueprint out perfectly.

“We’re trying to assemble a great team of teachers,” Kubiak told reporters last week. “We’ve got to get some really good teachers and coaches here, and get us all on the same page, and get our players going in the same direction. That communication is really important. I think if we can put together a great staff here and get our players up to date on these playbooks and the expectations we have of them, then the results will speak for themselves.”

So, who is Traylor? I spoke with A to Z Sports Minnesota’s Tyler Forness to get a deeper look at a guy who could be Fernando Mendoza’s right-hand man.

Who is Jordan Traylor?

The Vikings hired Jordan Traylor to their staff last offseason, and he came in with high expectations. The role he filled on the staff was vacated by wunderkind Grant Udinski, and the 2025 offense took a major step back. Is that due to Traylor? Probably not, but it’s part of the conversation, especially a feather in Udinski’s cap.

The son of Gimer High School legend and current UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor, Jordan was responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes work on game planning and mechanics. It’s hard to tell how much he was at fault for, but he’s a good coach. The only two changes to the staff and QB room were Traylor and Carson Wentz taking Sam Darnold’s spot, so take that for what it’s worth. Kubiak and Janocko, having worked with him, are likely a good thing for Traylor.
