Raiders legend helps Maxx Crosby break the silence on all of the trade rumors surrounding the guy every team seems to want
The Raiders do not want to trade Maxx Crosby.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been at the center of a ton of drama over the last few weeks. Of course, most who follow the team closely know that the Maxx Crosby trade rumors are just annual at this point, but they are there.
Over the last few seasons, reporters have claimed Crosby wants out, yet he has never actually demanded a trade. The only time he nearly considered it was during the hiring of Antonio Pierce as head coach; Crosby stated he would consider a trade if Pierce was not hired, but the organization did bring him on. Similarly, this situation amounts to nothing—though Crosby hasn’t said so directly, he has alluded to wanting to stay.
Amid these rumors, a Raiders legend has publicly supported Crosby.
Raiders MVP quarterback Rich Gannon reveals Crosby doens’t want out
“Maxx and I are talking,” Gannon started to say on Sirius XM. “We’re talking about everything about last year, this year, and his rehab. Dude, he’s in the building every day. He’s so dialed in. He’s in the weight room working out. He’s rehabbing, and he said, ‘I’m going to be fine in a couple of weeks.’ All this nonsense about him no longer wanting to play for the Raiders, I don’t know that to be true.
“Talking to him yesterday, that is about the furthest thing from that guy’s mind. He feels like there’s unfinished business. Is he tired and fatigued with all the turnover and the starting over again? Absolutely, who wouldn’t be? But this guy is wired differently.”
The Raiders do not want to trade Crosby. He’s too good a player, and right now they’re in the business of having good players. They have everything else around him in terms of resources. They have their quarterback, or will have one, along with weapons on offense. They have the money to spend to put better players around him. However, you can’t trade him when he’s the only great player on the defensive side of the ball.
From the sound of it, though, it doesn’t sound like Crosby is going anywhere.
