Every day, new rumors emerge that Maxx Crosby wants out of the Las Vegas Raiders. Meanwhile, Crosby is staying away from all of those kinds of questions. To him, it’s a “damned if I do, damned if I don’t” type of situation. No matter what he says, something’s going to be twisted into drama.

But Raiders general manager John Spytek wasn’t going for all the drama on Tuesday when he showed up to the podium at the NFL Scouting Combine. He said exactly what was on his mind regarding the team not only wanting Crosby, but needing him, too.

John Spytek talks Maxx Crosby saga at NFL Combine

“Maxx [Crosby] is an elite player, and I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them,” Spytek told reporters at the Combine. “And it’s hard to build a great team without elite players…

“Maxx [Crosby] and I have a great relationship. He’s in the building every day, getting healthy right now. We talk on the phone. We text. So, I have a great relationship with Maxx… Maxx [Crosby] and I have had great conversations. I’m comfortable there. Yeah.”

He was asked the question about Crosby, worded ten different ways. Every answer that Spytek gave was nice and worded in a way that was very clear—they want Crosby, and they are confident he will be a Raider in 2026. But that did not stop the questions from coming, so naturally, he was irritated in his final answer.

Most close to the Raiders and the situation know that he’s likely not going to be traded. It doesn’t make any sense to trade him, and it doesn’t make any sense for them to trade him when they say they won’t and believe he will be on the team in 2026. However, national media, reporters, and even insiders continue to push a narrative about Crosby wanting out. Sure, it seems legit because Crosby wasn’t at Klint Kubiak’s initial press conference, but that could also be everyone reading way too much into the situation.

Based on everything we heard Tuesday, Crosby isn’t going anywhere.
