On Tuesday night, the Las Vegas Raiders entered another eventful offseason. Earlier, the Baltimore Ravens had initially agreed to a trade with the Raiders to acquire Maxx Crosby, but later decided not to proceed with the deal. An important deadline is coming up.

Raiders have an important deadline coming up very soon involving Maxx Crosby

The Ravens claim Crosby failed his physical, so now he is back with the Raiders. However, people in league circles believe Baltimore may have simply gotten cold feet and decided to reclaim their picks to potentially sign Trey Hendrickson. Now that the trade has fallen through, the primary question is whether the Raiders will keep Crosby long-term or pursue another deal.

According to several reports, the Raiders are set to keep Crosby and get him ready for the 2026 season, barring another crazy trade package being offered to them. However, if they do, they’ll have to make a huge decision very soon.

On Friday, there’s a trigger for Crosby’s contract and base 2027 pay. He’s due $29 million in fully guaranteed salary for 2027 on Friday. So, the Raiders could either push the contract trigger deadline, which they can mutually agree to do. If they did that, it could mean that both sides are still mutually interested in pursuing a trade.

If they don’t, Crosby is probably a Raider for the next two years. So one of three things is likely to happen. Both sides push that deadline back, he gets traded before Friday, or he gets paid, and the Raiders keep him for 2026 and 2027.

The Raiders have a very important decision to make, and honestly, it has some pretty big implications for their future. Just think, if they trade him, they likely still get one first-round pick, whether that’s in the 2026 NFL Draft or the 2027 NFL Draft. If they keep him, they don’t have all of the draft capital they previously had to get super excited about in terms of this rebuild. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t still trade up in the draft with all of the assets they currently have. And, on the other hand, Vegas basically got Maxx Crosby, an elite defensive end, for the No. 14 pick.

This contract situation is certainly something to watch for over the next few days. If nothing is done and Saturday rolls around, you know the Raiders intend to keep him for at least two more years.
